Twelve private cabins hidden in 240 acres of ancient Appalachian rainforest. Disconnect from everything. Reconnect with yourself.
Our Philosophy
The Southern Appalachians are one of the oldest temperate rainforests on Earth. We built Nature Retreat on 240 acres of it — not to tame the forest, but to let it teach us. Every path, every structure, every experience follows the rhythm of the land.
This isn't a resort with nature views. It's a place where the forest is the experience — where morning fog becomes your meditation guide and the mountain trails write your itinerary.

The Cabins
Perched at the treeline with floor-to-ceiling glass facing the valley. King beds dressed in linen, wood-burning stoves, deep soaking tubs, and a porch built for watching the fog lift.
Tucked deep under the canopy, each positioned so no other cabin is visible from yours. Hand-built from local timber, with outdoor cedar showers and the forest as your only neighbor.
“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”
John Muir
Experiences
Immerse yourself in the ancient Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku. Guided walks through old-growth rainforest, breathing air the canopy has been filtering for a century.
Learn more →Begin before dawn. Hike through mist-wrapped trails to reach the peak as the first light breaks over the ridge. Coffee and silence at the top.
Learn more →Practice on our open-air timber deck overlooking the valley. Morning sessions move with the sunrise; evenings bring restorative yin under the fading sky.
Learn more →Our altitude and distance from light pollution create one of the clearest night skies on the East Coast. Telescopes, blankets, and warm drinks provided.
Learn more →The Table
Chef Tomás Herrera forages from our land each morning — ramps in spring, chanterelles in summer, persimmons in fall. What the mountain offers becomes a five-course tasting menu served at one long candlelit table.
Every stay includes all meals. Breakfast is served until noon, because mornings here are not for rushing.

“
I came for three days and stayed for ten. There is something about this place that makes the rest of the world feel very far away.

The sunrise hike changed something in me. I can't explain it except to say I've been different since.

Not a spa. Not a hotel. Something much rarer — a place that actually gives you permission to slow down.
